India has amazing potential in each sector of work and professional expertise, so as in the field of mental health. However, counseling and psychotherapy is not a regulated or licensed profession in our country as it is in the Western or North American countries. We at TherapySupports, maintain the same standard available to our clients in North America, by ongoing clinical supervision of the work, having peer consultations, and through consistent client feedback. Our attempt is to provide services that are tailored to the client's needs.
As responsible professionals, we at TherapySupports take pride in keeping up the following standards of practice -
Maintain high standards of professional competence by attending to our own personal well-being, and engaging in ongoing professional education and development.
Respect due process and demonstrate commitment to the principles of social justice by honoring diversity, supporting human rights, fostering inclusivity, and striving toward equity.
To provide only those services that are within scope of practice, and at par with our professional competence by virtue of our education, credentials, and professional experience.
Do not misrepresent or exaggerate professional qualifications, experience, or performance.
Take necessary precautions to respect and safeguard the client’s right to confidentiality, and to protect from inappropriate disclosure of any information generated within the counseling/therapy relationship.
The general requirement for counselors/therapists to keep all client information confidential has exemptions in any of the following circumstances:
When the client mentions something suggesting an imminent danger to another person or to self;
When the client shares information that gives reasonable cause to suspect abuse or neglect of a child;
When disclosure is ordered by a court;
When a client requests disclosure.
At TherapySupports, we engage in collaborative dialouge with our clients to ensure that they fully understand their treatment plans. These plans are specifically designed to address the goals that our clients want to achieve through their therapy sessions.
Multiple relationships exist when counselors/therapists, simultaneously or sequentially, have one or more relationships with a client in addition to the counseling/therapy relationship. We recognize that such multiple relationships have the potential to negatively affect their objectivity and compromise the quality of professional services.
We prefer to avoid entering into social, or business relationships with current or former clients. We understand that this may lead to a conflict of interest or put the therapeutic alliance at risk.
In order to promote inclusivity and intersectionality, we strive to deepen our understanding of diverse ethnicities in India and be mindful of our own life experiences that have shaped our values, beliefs, and attitudes.
Multiple Clients refers to the set-up of Couple, Family, and Group Counselling. When engaged in these types of couple or group(multiple client settings) therapy, we make every effort to avoid or minimize any separate, or confidential contact with individuals while they are also participating in couples, family, or group counseling/therapy.
We avoid taking the the client in couples, family or group therapy also as an individual client. In such situations the client is referred or suggested to take individual therapy with another therapist.
